Guest Bedroom – Week 2
My instagram post wasn’t lying. My tech and blogging skills can be best summed up by Buzz’s girlfriend.
First, it took me WAY, WAY too long to figure out how to add a page to blog and I’m 99% sure I didn’t do the One Room Challenge link up correctly. I’m hoping to get a little more savvy each week. Then, maybe by Week 8, I will have actually followed all the rules and can be considered for a feature from Better Homes and Gardens. I’m dreaming big.
But here we are – One Room Challenge Week 2.
The Paint
I decided on two beautiful colors from Clare paint. I went with Sriracha (a very fun red) and Wing It (a soft and relaxing pink). Side story: my senior year of college I decided to paint my bedroom red. And I mean RED. It was a lot. I had a friend come over and he sat on the edge of my bed, looked around, and said “I feel like I’m in a kidney”. That is not the look I am going for here and this is not that kind of red.
I decided to use Clare because I have already used it to paint our powder room and it’s basically buttah (that’s butter but how a New Yorker would say it). Actually, I don’t know if that’s a good thing for paint but the point is it’s amazing. Application is super easy, it can be a little thick, but that also means that it’s one coat and done. I can not stress to you how much I hate painting so one coat is my love language.
My main man Alfredo knocked out the painting and installing the ceiling fan in a day. I’m pretty sure it’s ORC code that once I paint I only post black and white pictures so the big reveal isn’t ruined but that’s just not how I roll.
What had happened was…
If you follow me on Instagram you will have seen that I did a poll a couple days ago. There were two looks that had me verkelmpt.
What had happened was….
I found these amazing custom drapes on Facebook Marketplace (for a steal) and tucked them away only to forgot about them for about a month. When all the painting was finished, I was sitting in the room planning in my head and BAM. Those curtains would be perfect! But it’s your classic give a mouse a cookie situation – if you change the curtains, you have to change the rug, and if you change the rug, blah blah. But I did it because who doesn’t like cookies. New green curtains are up and I switched the rug that has been in here with the rug from our dining room.
I also found this spot on ginger jar lamp at the thrift store yesterday for $5 so it’s kismet. I will be starting my first DIY this weekend. Ts and Ps.
And just because it was very exciting – The Washingtonian did a write up on local designers participating in the One Room Challenge and Tiernan Interiors was invited to sit at the big kids table. Check it out here.
