Y’all…I AM DONE. But you’re still going to have to wait until next week. Sorry not sorry. This week I am going to do something a little different.
When I started Tiernan Interiors my family and friends were so supportive it sort of blew my mind. One of my aunts ran to her favorite thrift store and bought all the books on Decorating, Homes, Interior Design, ALL OF THEM. Covid had just reared its ugly head so she left this mountain of books outside my front door. That’s the kind of blind faith everyone needs in their life.
So, for Week 7, I thought I would pay it forward.
I wanted to highlight some of the women-owned, small businesses that I ABSOLUTELY love. A number of them are here in NoVa, some I know from high school (shit from elementary school), and a couple are accounts I found on Instagram.
Caitlin Moore Photography – Caitlin takes the most stunning photos. She has taken the most perfect family pictures for us. I will never stop asking her to come over and patiently snap away while my husband and I forget what to do with our hands. Honestly, it doesn’t even matter because we all know Stella (and the dogs) are the stars.
Jill Perla – I found Jill on Instagram and I’ve always wanted one of her paintings. About a month ago I slid into her DMs and we worked together to figure out exactly what I wanted and what colors would go with my room for the ORC. She made the whole process incredibly painless and I can’t stop staring at my new painting.
Urban Redeux – My friend Willow owns this fun shop in Alexandria. She has put a lot of work into collecting an amazing inventory of vintage and unique items. Every time I go in I know I’m going to find something beautiful. And can get a margarita after.
Re-Design in A Day – I met Nicole through Willow. She is one of the sweetest people and she’s done such a good job curating her shop. I used to love being able to just pop in because it’s the perfect neighborhood spot. When we moved last year I was so bummed I couldn’t stop in all the time but now I like to make a fun trip out of it.
529 Hollin Hall – After I visit Nicole’s shop, I always stop here next. It’s my favorite consignment store for women’s and kids’ clothes. Robin carries the best brands and they’re always in excellent condition. Now I can actually justify buying a straw hat from Janie and Jack that Stella will outgrow in two months.
Ana Mari Ortega – If you’re looking for the perfect pair of statement earrings to go with your Hill House nap dress then look no further. If you like to wear your prettiest jewelry while you watch smutty period pieces then look no further. If you want to take the ideal bubble bath while wearing your fanciest studs then look no further. (I’m joking – all of her jewelry obviously goes with EVERYTHING but Ana Mari also crushes the Instagram stories game.)
House of Lilac – Most of the time I don’t miss living in Miami but when I do its because I can’t get one of Melanie’s insane bouquets delivered. Her fresh flowers are the absolute best and her dried bouquets are just as beautiful (and ship nationwide).
My little write-up doesn’t do them justice. All of these women are so talented and you need them in your life. You’re welcome.
As always, make sure you check out the other participants for the ORC. I’ve met some crazy talented people and you should too….
